0.5kg - Fuping Dried Persimmon Handcrafted Hoshigaki

$27.99 USD

These handcrafted dried persimmons come from the well-known growing area of Fuping, where the climate produces naturally plump, sweet fruit. Each persimmon is picked at full maturity and then slow-dried until the outside turns soft and the center becomes glossy and jam-like.

Each persimmon is individually wrapped, and the product is packed and weighed in bulk.

Traditional Slow Drying for Real Sweetness

The full drying cycle takes around 60 days — a gradual, natural process that allows moisture to evaporate slowly while sugars concentrate and reach the surface. This long curing method gives the fruit its unique fragrant sweetness and a soft chew.

What Makes Them Different

  • Naturally ripened persimmons, grown on small family farms
  • Long handcrafted drying process, not industrial drying
  • Soft exterior with a syrup-like center that melts in your mouth
  • Thick, full flesh rather than thin or collapsed fruit
  • Visible sugar frost — a sign of full maturity and sugar formation

About the White Frost You See

The powdery white layer is crystallized natural sugar (glucose) that forms during drying — not flour, not additives, and not mold. It is one of the quality signs of fully cured persimmons.

Storage After Receiving

Please store the fruit immediately after arrival for best flavor:

Common Questions

  1. Why do I see dark spots?
These are natural oxidation marks from peeling. They do not affect quality or taste.
  2. Why is there no frost on some pieces?
Sugar frost forms over time. Some pieces form crystals later due to temperature changes. Store them properly, and sweetness continues to develop.
  3. What if a piece feels moist?
Place slightly moist pieces in the freezer or seal with apples/pears for a few days—the sweetness will develop further, and the surface will naturally frost again.

These dried persimmons deliver a mellow sweetness, a glossy soft center, and a traditional flavor that comes only from slow craftsmanship and naturally ripened fruit. Enjoy them as a snack, pair with tea, or share as a seasonal treat.
